Saint Peter’s (10-21) erased a 10-point halftime deficit and beat Marist (12-19) in overtime in the First Round of the 2019 Men’s Basketball Championship. It is the third win in as many games this season for the Peacocks over the Red Foxes.
Saint Peter’s Notes
- Saint Peter’s advances to face No. 1 seed Iona College on Friday at 7 p.m. on ESPN3.
- The Peacocks used a 21-4 run in the middle of the second half to take a 54-50 lead.
- Davauhnte Turner led Saint Peter’s with 18 points. Dallas Watson added 17 for the Peacocks.
- Saint Peter’s shot 54-percent from the field and 51-percent from the game.
- The Peacocks evened their record at the MAAC Championship at 35-35 overall and 17-17 at the Times Union Center.
Marist Notes
- Brian Parker had a game-high 22 points on 9-of-15 shooting. The senior added five rebounds and four assists.
- Ryan Funk chipped in 18 points in 41 minutes.
- It was the Red Foxes’ second overtime game this season (1-1).
- Marist held an advantage in second chance points (10-0) and bench points (19-8).

Manhattan (11-20) held Fairfield (9-22) to 30-percent shooting in the second half to advance to quarterfinals and a matchup with No. 2 seed Canisius College. Manhattan prevented Fairfield from hitting a 3-pointer in the second half.
Manhattan Notes
- Manhattan and Canisius will meet Friday at 9:30 p.m. on ESPN3.
- Manhattan got 16 points from Christian Hinckson and 10 from Warren Williams.
- The Jaspers are the 10th straight seven seed to win at least one game at the MAAC Championship.
- The Jaspers picked up their 20th win all-time in Albany in MAAC Championship play.
- Head Coach Steve Masiello picked up his 10th career win at the MAAC Championship.
Fairfield Notes
- Freshman Neftali Alvarez had a game-high 18 points on 7-of-14 shooting. Alvarez also grabbed five rebounds.
- Landon Taliaferro was the other Stag in double figures with 12 points.
- Fairfield made seven 3-pointers in the first half (7-of-15) but were limited to four attempts—no makes—after halftime.

In a game with 10 lead changes and 15 ties, Monmouth (12-20) took the lead for good over Niagara (13-19) with 3:56 to go and advanced to a Saturday matchup with No. 3 seed Quinnipiac University.
Monmouth Notes
- Monmouth will play Quinnipiac at 7 p.m. on ESPN3 on Saturday.
- Ray Salnave scored 14 of his 20 points in the second half. The 20 points led the Hawks.
- Diago Quinn added 14 points and nine rebounds.
- The Hawks outscored the Purple Eagles in second chance points, bench points, and points in the paint.
Niagara Notes
- Freshman Raheem Solomon had a career-high 24 points (6-of-12).
- Marcus Hammond tallied 15 points and Marvin Prochet had a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds.
- The Purple Eagles hit 81-percent from the free throw line compared to the Hawks’ 65-percent.
