Top seed Iona (15-15) advanced to its ninth straight semifinal after holding off Saint Peter’s (10-22), 73-71. Saint Peter’s had a 1-and-1 with two seconds left down 72-71 but missed the front end.
 
Iona Notes
• The Gaels have never missed the semifinals under Tim Cluess in reaching the semifinals of the MAAC Championship.
• Iona will play either No. 4 Rider University or No. 5 Siena College on Sunday, March 10 at 6 p.m. on ESPN3.
• Tajuan Agee (26), E.J. Crawford (26), and Rickey McGill (18) scored 70 of Iona’s 73 points.
• Agee had 26 points and six rebounds before fouling out. It was Agee’s seventh game of 20-plus points.
• Crawford had 20-plus for the 15th time this season.  
• Iona improved to 8-3 against Saint Peter's in the MAAC Tournament, knocking the Peacocks out for the third straight year and winning their 10th in a row against SPU overall
 
Saint Peter’s Notes
• Redshirt-senior Davauhnte Turner led the Peacocks with 23 points (9-of-16).
• The Peacocks shot 56-percent from the field and 43-percent from three. Defensively, the Peacocks held the Gaels to 33-percent from behind the arc, including 14-percent in the second half.
• Saint Peter’s trailed by nine, 69-58, with 2:59 to play before cutting the deficit to one on a Turner 3-pointer with 35 seconds to play.
•  Despite the loss, the Peacocks shot 56.5 percent from the field on the game, their best FG percentage in a game this season and their sixth time making more than half of their attempted shots in a contest.

Canisius (15-16) led for only 3:53 against Manhattan (11-21) but the Golden Griffins prevailed in overtime, 69-65. The four-point margin is tied for the largest margin victory over the first five games of the championship.
 
Canisius Notes
• The Golden Griffins make their first semifinal appearance since 2014.
• The Griffs will face either No. 3 Quinnipiac or No. 6 Monmouth on Sunday at 8:30 p.m. on ESPNU.
• Jibreel Faulkner led the Griffs with 20 points and eight rebounds. Three other players were in double figures.
• The win was the 11th of the season decided by five points or less or in overtime. The 11 wins are the most in Division I.
• Canisius improves to 3-1 in overtime in the MAAC Championship.
 
Manhattan Notes
• Warren Williams had a game-high 27 points (11-of-15) and added five rebounds.
• Manhattan led by as many 12 points with 18:53 to play in the second half.
• Nehemiah Mack chipped in 13 points and three assists for the Jaspers.
