In the first game of the 2019 Men’s Basketball Championship decided by more than four points, Monmouth (13-20) advanced to the semifinals with a 98-92 win over Quinnipiac (16-14). The Hawks had seven players score in double figures in what was the fifth-highest scoring game in MAAC Championship play.
Monmouth Notes
• Monmouth will take on No. 2 seed Canisius College at 8:30 p.m. on Sunday on ESPNU.
• It is the fourth time in the last six seasons that the Hawks will appear in the semifinals.
• Mustapha Traore had a career-high 19 points. He shared the team lead with Ray Salnave. Marcus McClary (14 points), Diago Quinn (12), Nick Rutherford (11), Deion Hammond (10), and Louie Pillari (10) were also in double figures.
• The Hawks shot 56-percent from the field, season-high, and held a 42-16 advantage in points in the paint.
Quinnipiac Notes
• The Bobcats hit 18 3-pointers, which is the second-most in MAAC Championship play. The record is 19 set by Iona College in 2015.
• Jacob Rigoni and Cameron Young combined for 63 of Quinnipiac’s 92 points.
• Young scored 33 points to record 30-plus points for seventh time in his Quinnipiac career.
• Rigoni tallied a career-high 30 points.

Siena (17-15) shot 81-percent from the field in the second half and 65-percent for the game to hold off Rider (16-15) 87-81. The teams combined to score 109 points in the second half.
Siena Notes
• Siena will play No. 1 seed Iona in the semifinals on Sunday at 6 p.m. on ESPN3. The game will re-air on ESPNU at 10:30 p.m.
• The Saints are 2-7 all-time against the top seed in the MAAC Championship and are 0-9 against Iona.
• Evan Fisher led five Saints in double figures with 22 points.
• Rookie of the Year, Jalen Pickett, added 20 points and six assists.
• Fellow freshman Sloan Seymour had a career-high six 3-pointers—18 points.
• Siena improves to 4-0 against Rider in the MAAC Championship.
Rider Notes
• The Broncs held a 44-22 advantage in points in the paint and a 27-3 lead in second-chance points.
• Tyere Marshall led Rider with 22 points and eight rebounds—seven on offensive glass.
• Four other Broncs scored at least 10 points; Stevie Jordan had 14 points and Jordan Allen, Anthony Durham, and Dimencio Vaughn all had 10 points.
