Wagner Wins Fourth Straight MAAC Water Polo Regular Season Title
EDISON, NJ – For the fourth consecutive season, Wagner College is the MAAC Water Polo Regular Season Champions. It is the Seahawks’ 10th regular season title overall and sixth in the last seven seasons.
Wagner (28-9, 13-1 MAAC) topped Virginia Military Institute (14-16, 6-8) 21-3 on Saturday to claim the regular season crown. The Seahawks scored the first seven goals of the match and led 13-2 at the half. Malia Josephson and Sofia Diaz Alvarez tallied five goals each to lead Wagner.
The Seahawks will be the top seed in the upcoming MAAC Water Polo Championship, which takes place April 27 & 28 at the McCann Natatorium on the campus of Marist College. Marist will be hosting the MAAC Championship for the 17th straight year.
Semifinal action gets underway at 12 p.m. on April 27 with No. 1 Wagner taking on the No. 4 seed. The second semifinal will follow at 2 p.m. The championship game is scheduled for 2 p.m. on April 28 with the consolation game preceding it at 12 p.m.
