Canisius's Caito and Marist's MacGregor & Lyons Take Home MAAC Men's Lacrosse Weekly Honors
Offensive Player of the Week
Mario Caito, Canisius
Sr., Solon, OH/Solon
Caito tallied eight goals to help guide Canisius to a pair of victories against MAAC opponents St. Bonaventure and Detroit Mercy last week. The senior recorded five goals on six shots on target in 16-8 victory versus the Bonnies. He tallied a hat trick in 11-8 victory over the Titans and pitched in three ground balls and one caused turnover. Caito’s two hat tricks gives him seven outings of three goals or more this season.
Defensive Player of the Week
Jake MacGregor, Marist
R-So., Port Jefferson Station, NY/Comsewogue
MacGregor had another impressive day in goal, recording 17 saves and finishing the day with a .708 save percentage. He held Quinnipiac to just two goals in the first half during Marist's 12-8 win over the Bobcats.
Rookie of the Week
James Lyons, Marist
Fr., Sayville, NY/Sayville
Lyons helped propelled Marist to a victory, scoring a hat trick against Quinnipiac. He was automatic, finishing the day with a perfect shooting percentage.
