Iona’s Forson & Pierre, Manhattan’s Boone, and Monmouth’s Taub Win MAAC Outdoor Track & Field Weekly Awards
Men’s Track Performer of the Week
Prince Forson, Iona
So., Bronx, NY/Archbishop Stepinac
Prince Forson earned two bronze medals at the Metropolitan Championships hosted by Rutgers University. In the 100M, Forson earned third place with a mark of 10.72, the second-fastest time in the MAAC this season. In the 200M, Forson won bronze with a time of 22.04, the third-fastest time in the MAAC this season.
Women’s Track Performer of the Week
Niasia Boone, Manhattan
Jr., Morrisville, PA/Pennsbury
Boone earned PRs in both the 100M and 200M at the 2019 Metropolitan Championships, qualifying for the ECAC Championships in both events. She placed second in the 200M, recording a time of 24.56, and third in the 100M with a time of 12.01. Both times are the MAAC's best so far this season. Boone was also a member of the women's 4x100 squad that took third at Mets with an ECAC-qualifying time of 47.50, also the MAAC's best time this season.
Men’s Field Performer of the Week
Jelani Pierre, Iona
Jr., Westfield, NJ/Westfield
Jelani Pierre won the long jump at the Metropolitan Championships, hosted by Rutgers University. He won the event with a jump of 7.42 meters. The junior set a new Iona record three times on his fourth, fifth and sixth jumps, recording his best in his final jump.
Women’s Field Performer of the Week
Allison Taub, Monmouth
Sr., Holland, PA/Council Rock South
Taub shined over the weekend at the Coach Pollard Invitational at Moravian College by posting a win and a second place finish. She won the shot put with a throw of 14.43 meters (47'4.25") and placed second in the discus with a throw of 46.69 meters (153'2"). Both marks were well over the ECAC Championship qualifying standards.
