Player of the Week
Peter Battaglia, Niagara
Jr., Williamsville, NY/Williamsville North
Battaglia had a great week for the Purple Eagles. He went 8-for-17 at the plate, recording two hits in four out of five games, for an average of .471. Battaglia had an impressive five homeruns on the week, including two homers in the opening game of a DH against St. Bonaventure on April 9. In that game he had five RBI, finishing with nine RBI total on the week. He finished the week with a 1.412 slugging percentage and a .550 on-base percentage.
Pitcher of the Week
Matthew Brash, Niagara
Jr., Kingston, ON/Bayridge Secondary School
Brash pitched his second complete game shutout of the season against Monmouth on Saturday. Brash fanned eight while walking just one and scattering only four hits in 7.0 innings pitched. Brash needed just 91 pitches to get through the game.
Rookie of the Week
Cole Hollins, Canisius
Fr., Buffalo, NY/Orchard Park
Cole Hollins had breakout week, recording a pair of three-hit contests to lead Canisius to victories in both matchups, recording seven RBI and four extra-base hits. The redshirt-freshman started the week with a solo homer, the first of his career, in his first at-bat against Kent State, while also recording a double and a single on his way to tallying a team season-high six RBI. He matched that performance with two doubles and a single in the third game of the Marist series, plating one RBI. Fielding-wise, the outfielder was perfect with three putouts.
