Andreessen homered three times this week in a 3-1 week for Monmouth, driving in seven while hitting .556 with five runs scored. He slugged at a whopping 1.167 clip, and got on base at a .652 rate for the week, walking four times.
Pitcher of the Week
Stephen Hansen, Iona
Jr., Manalapan, NJ/Manalapan
Junior Stephen Hansen threw a complete game shutout against visiting Seton Hall on Friday, Mar. 29. Hansen threw 9.0 innings, allowing seven hits and striking out seven batters. He walked just one. The innings pitched is a career-best. He needed just 105 pitches to complete the game.
Rookie of the Week
Sam Franco, Manhattan
Fr., Bardonia, NY/Clarkstown South
Franco hit a team-leading .350 (7-for-20), including .462 at Canisius, with a double, triple, six RBI, a steal and two walks. He began the week with a single, RBI and two walks at Columbia. The Connecticut native went 3-for-5 with a double, run and RBI in the opener at Canisius. He followed that up with a single and a RBI in game one of Monday's doubleheader. Then capped his big weekend by going 2-for-4 with a game-tying, three-run triple. This season he is hitting .283 (15-for-53) with seven runs, two doubles, one triple, one home run and 10 RBI.
