2019 MAAC Men’s Tennis Championship Field is Set

EDISON, NJ – The 2019 Men’s Tennis Championship field and seedings are confirmed. Heading to the MAAC Championship in West Windsor, New Jersey is the top seed Monmouth University (16-1, 6-0), No. 2 Marist College (11-9, 5-1), No. 3 Quinnipiac University (8-12, 4-2), and No. 4 Fairfield University (6-15, 3-3). The opening round of the championship is set for Saturday, April 27 at the Mercer County Tennis Center.
 
Monmouth will enter the 2019 MAAC Championship as the No. 1 seed for the fifth consecutive year. The Hawks, who finished undefeated in MAAC play, will look to claim their fourth championship in as many years. Monmouth will head to West Windsor riding a 14-game win streak.
 
Marist will head to New Jersey as the No. 2 seed with only a single MAAC loss. The Red Foxes are coming off two-straight appearances in the championship match, making the final as the No. 2 seed in 2017 and as the No. 3 seed in 2018. Since the commencement of a four-team playoff in 2011, the Marist men have never been lower than a No. 3 seed.
 
Quinnipiac holds the No. 3 seed after finishing with only two MAAC losses. The Bobcats look to make their first championship match appearance since the 2016 campaign and claim their first MAAC title in program history. This marks the fifth consecutive year the Bobcats have made the postseason.
 
Fairfield claimed the final spot in the championship today after a 6-1 “win and you’re in” match against Siena. 2019 will mark the fourth-straight year the Stags will compete for a MAAC Championship as the No. 4 seed. Since the league moved to a four-team championship, the Stags have only missed the postseason one time.
 
The 2019 MAAC Men’s and Women’s Championship will be held at Mercer County Tennis Center in West Windsor, New Jersey. Semifinal action begins Saturday, April 27 with No. 1 Monmouth taking on No. 4 Fairfield and No. 2 Marist taking on No. 3 Quinnipiac. Both men’s semifinal matches are set to start at 2:00 p.m. The finals will take place the day after, April 28, with the women’s match beginning at 10:00 a.m. and the men’s match starting at 2:00 p.m. For more information on the 2019 MAAC Tennis Championships, visit maacsports.com/tennis.
