Marist’s Burns, Monmouth’s Wilson & Slocum, and Rider’s Hunter Collect MAAC Outdoor Track & Field Weekly Awards
Men’s Track Performer of the Week
Andrew Burns, Marist
Sr., Guilderland, NY/Guilderland
The senior had a strong showing for the Red Foxes at the Bryan Clay Invitational last week. Burns ran a MAAC-leading 1:51.64 in the 800M to record the second-fastest time in Marist history. The Guilderland-native won his heat and placed 46
th overall out of an elite field of over 150 competitors.
Women’s Track Performer of the Week
Allie Wilson, Monmouth
Gr., Wallingford, PA/Strath Haven
Wilson continued a dominant season on the track by breaking another school record in the 1500M with ease. Her time of 4:15.16 beat her own school record by nearly six seconds to finish as the second overall collegian at the Virginia Challenge. This time is now fifth-best in the NCAA D1 East Region, which makes her the only female to have two times in two different events in the east region’s top five.
Men’s Field Performer of the Week
Khalid Slocum, Monmouth
Jr., Annapolis, MD/Annapolis
Slocum turned in a monster week at the University of Virginia by breaking Monmouth’s long jump record and being a part of the school record-breaking 4x100 relay team. The Annapolis native started his busy weekend by finishing the 200M with a season-best 21.41 seconds to take fifth place. His first record-breaking performance of the day came in the 4x100 relay, when the junior and his team broke the school record with a mark of 40.74 seconds, good for a second-place finish. In the long jump, Slocum recorded a distance of 25’11.5” to finish as the top collegian in the event. All three performances are now tops in the MAAC, while the long jump is currently seventh in the NCAA D1 East Region.
Women’s Field Performer of the Week
Ronetta Hunter, Rider
Jr., Burlington, NJ/Burlington Township
Junior Ronetta Hunter continued her impressive outdoor campaign for the Rider University track and field team at the Duke Invitational. Hunter finished fourth in the shot put with an ECAC-qualifying toss of 14.15 meters.
