Fairfield’s Shibles and Nowak Named MAAC Tennis Weekly Award Winners
Men’s Player of the Week
Tyler Shibles, Fairfield
Jr., Centerville, MA/Barnstable
Shibles went 2-0 at No. 1 Singles this week and won at No. 1 Doubles against Siena. Against Quinnipiac, Shibles defeated Freddie Zaretsky (4-5, 1-0, 1-0) at No. 1 Singles. Against Siena, Shibles and Lewis Edwards took down Tomas del Olmo and Guillermo Torres (6-2). Shibles then finished off Sagar Bains (6-1, 3-6, 6-4) at No. 1 Singles leading the Stags to a 6-1 win over the Saints.
Women’s Player of the Week
Amanda Nowak, Fairfield
Fr., Summerfield, NC/Northern Guilford
Nowak went 4-0 this week against Quinnipiac and Siena as the Stags went 1-1 to finish out the regular season. Against Quinnipiac, Nowak and Aina March took down Proyfon Lohaphaisan and Dominique Vasile at No. 1 Doubles (7-5). She then defeated Vasile at No. 1 Singles (7-6, 6-3). Against Siena, Nowak again teamed up with March to defeat Meagan Brown and Laura Becker (6-3) at No. 1 Doubles. At No. 1 Singles, Nowak took down Meagan Brown (6-3, 6-3) leading the Stags to a 5-2 win.
