West Windsor, NJ – The 2019 Women’s Tennis Championship Match has been determined, with No. 1 Quinnipiac University advancing to take on No. 2 Fairfield University tomorrow at 10 a.m.

Quinnipiac advances after a 4-1 victory over No. 4 Siena College. Siena jumped out to an early lead, picking up the doubles point with victories from the pairs of Kylie Mullaney and Meagan Brown from the No. 1 spot and Natalie Weaver and Dilara Spicer in the No. 2 spot. The Bobcats found their groove in singles competition however, with senior Jennifer Lu grabbing the first point for Quinnipiac in the No. 2 spot with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Siena’s Mullaney and sophomore Payton Bradley securing the next point, taking down Siena’s Weaver 6-3, 6-4 from the No. 4 spot. The final two points for the Bobcats came from Layla Rodriguez in the No. 5 spot and Courtney Nash in the No. 6 spot. Rodriguez bested Siena’s Laura Becker 6-3, 7-62 and Nash grabbed the match clinching point with a 6-2, 7-65 victory over Siena’s Anessa Leyva.

Fairfield secured its spot in the championship match for the first time since 2014 after a 4-1 win over No. 3 Marist College. The Stags fell victim to an opponent’s hot start much like the Bobcats, as Marist claimed the doubles point with wins from the pairs of Julia Gabay and Sam Galu in the No. 1 spot and Sophia Moeller and Jada Tijani in the No. 2 spot. However, the Stags rebounded in singles competition, with Anna Komer and Diana Prinos collecting the first two points. Komer defeated Marist’s Chloe Lant 7-62, 6-0 and Prinos defeated Madison Price 6-4, 6-3. The final points to seal the victory came from Sophia Prinos and Jessica Pil. Prinos defeated Marist’s Sam Galu 6-1, 4-6, 6-2, and Pil defeated Sophia Chavarria 6-66, 6-4.
