2019 MAAC Water Polo Consolation Game

Iona (16-17) and VMI (16-14) were tied at four after the first quarter. Iona scored the final two of the first quarter and then the next six goals to take the consolation game 10-4.
Iona Notes
• The win was head coach Brian Kelly’s 378th with the women’s team, Kelly also coaches the men’s water polo team. Kelly ties former Gael baseball head coach Al Zoccolillo (1988-2005) for the most wins by an Iona head coach.
• Jillian Schultz led Iona with four goals.
• Maeve Wydan and Taylor Hensley tallied a pair of goals.
• In goal, Jodrin Hale made 10 saves on 23 VMI shots.
• Wydan’s second goal of the game gave Iona the lead for good with 4:18 left in the second.
VMI Notes
• The Keydets got on the board first on a goal from Sarah Dolitsky.
• McKenna Imset, Genevieve Petrassi, and Emma Perez also scored for VMI.
• Petrassi’s tally with 1:49 left in the opening stanza gave VMI a 4-2 before Iona scored the final eight goals of the game.
