No. 19 Wagner to Play No. 14 UC San Diego in NC Women’s Water Polo Championship Play-in Game

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Nineteenth-ranked Wagner College and No. 14 UC San Diego will meet for the third straight season in the National Collegiate Women’s Water Polo Championship play-in game as announced during the NCAA Selection Show Monday night.
 
The two teams will meet on Tuesday, May 7 at 3 p.m. EDT at the Avery Aquatic Center in Stanford, California. The winner will take top seed USC (26-1).
 
Wagner (30-9) has defeated UC San Diego (21-13) in each of the last two matchups in the NC Women’s Water Polo Championship. The Seahawks took last season’s meeting 10-7 in overtime.
 
Wagner defeated Marist College (22-16) 8-4 on Sunday to claim its sixth straight MAAC Water Polo Championship. Wagner has beaten Marist for each of its six titles during the run. Wagner's Kristy Donkin was named MVP of the MAAC Water Polo Championship after scoring four goals in the championship game.
 
The Tritons of UC San Diego come into the NC Women’s Water Polo Championship champions of the WWPA for the seventh consecutive. The Tritons have won their last five games.
