Canisius College Takes Home Women’s Rowing Weekly Awards

The Canisius Varsity Eight put together a strong start to the spring schedule. The boat led off the Golden Griffins' Saturday with a time of 7:10.0, beating out Johnson & Wales to earn a spot in the grand final. In the grand final, the varsity eight put up a 7:14.1 race, falling to Ithaca's top crew. The boat consisted of Misa Gamble (coxswain), Shannon Pritzker, Emma Vicaretti, Audrey Rieman, Sydney Bichsel, Brynn Krolikowski, Anezka Krobot, Bridget Brogan and Katie Kraft.

The second varsity eight, in its first race of 2019, started Saturday with a 7:23.7 posting to move past Johnson & Wales. In the grand final, the Blue and Gold's second varsity eight shaved over five seconds off their time in the second head-to-head race of the day, as the crew came in at a time of 7:18.2 but fell to Ithaca. The boat consisted of Emma Sabio (coxswain), Allyson Matrassi, Bridget Lillis, Tara Federow, Cat Gallagher, D.D. Hurley, Sara Ruszczyk, Alexandra Heinz and Hannah Vail.
