Quinnipiac's Young and Siena's Pickett Honored by ECAC
DANBURY, CT – Quinnipiac University’s Cameron Young and Siena College’s Jalen Pickett have collected postseason honors from the ECAC.
Pickett was named the ECAC Rookie of the Year and earned All-ECAC Second Team honors. Young picked up All-ECAC First Team accolades.
Pickett was the unanimous MAAC Rookie of the Year, as well as the only unanimous All-Rookie Team Member. At the end of this season, Pickett became the first true freshman to make MAAC First-Team since Lionel Simmons won the honor during the 1986-87 season at La Salle University. The freshman set a new conference record with 11 Rookie of the Week honors. Pickett’s best performance of the season came against Quinnipiac, where he recorded 46 points and 13 assists. That performance against the Bobcats earned Pickett CBS Sports/USBWA National Freshman of the Week honors.
Young was a unanimous choice to the All-MAAC First Team and MAAC Player of the Year. The California native was also an Honorable Mention AP All-American. Young led the MAAC in scoring this season with 23 points per game. The graduate student set a new MAAC single-game record for points after dropping 55 points in a triple-overtime win over Siena. This performance earned him a National Player of the Week award from CBS Sports.
