Men’s Track Performer of the Week
William Randall, Siena
Sr., Syracuse, NY/West Genesee
Randall showed his skills at the Penn Relays on Thursday afternoon. In the men's 3000M steeplechase, Randall set a qualifying time for ECAC/IC4A, a new program record, and a new personal record. He would finish 23rd out of 44 runners with a time of 9:11.93, topping the program record he previously set last May at the MAAC Championships by three seconds. The senior’s time currently ranks as second in the MAAC heading into this weekend’s MAAC Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Women’s Track Performer of the Week
Sara Gardner, Rider
Gr., Holland Township, NJ/Delaware Valley
Sara Gardner delivered a strong performance for the Rider University track and field team last weekend at the 125th Penn Relays at Franklin Field. During the prelims, she posted the second-fastest time amongst all competitors in the 100M hurdles. In the finals, she finished in second place with an ECAC-qualifying time of 13.46. She currently leads the MAAC in the event by nearly one second, heading into this weekend’s championships.
Men’s Field Performer of the Week
Corey Murphy, Monmouth
R-Sr., Yaphank, NY/Longwood
The Indoor Track & Field 2
nd Team All-American won his first gold watch by winning the shot put in the championship division with a mark of 18.74 meters (61'5.75") at the 2019 Penn Relays Championship of America. In very rainy conditions, Murphy was only one of two athletes to throw over 60' and still sits in the top ten in the NCAA East Region in the shot put. He also competed at the Covert Classic at Lehigh this weekend and won the discus with a mark of 50.62 meters (166'1"). The Yaphank, NY native currently has the top shot put mark and the second best discus mark in the MAAC heading into this weekend's championships.
Women’s Field Performer of the Week
Allison Taub, Monmouth
Sr., Holland, PA/Council Rock South
Taub began her weekend by winning the discus in the college division with a mark of 47.17 meters (154'9") at the historic Penn Relays. Later in the weekend, she would also win both the discus and shot put at the Covert Classic at Lehigh with marks of 14.61 meters (47'11.25") and 46.28 meters (151'10"), respectively. Entering this weekend's championships, Taub will be the top seed in both the shot put and discus.
