Monmouth’s Figel and Lode, Marist’s Smith, and Quinnipiac’s Abbott Named MAAC Men’s Lacrosse Players of the Week
Offensive Player of the Week
Griffin Figel, Monmouth
Sr., Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan
Griffin Figel registered his second hat trick of the season and his fourth-career three-goal game with three goals and an assist in Monmouth's win at St. Bonaventure. His man-up goal was his first-career goal on the man advantage and was also the game-winner. Figel equaled his career high with four points, the fourth time he has had four points a game and he now has 73 career points, with 41 goals and 32 assists.
Co-Defensive Player of the Week
Peyton Smith, Marist
Jr., Raleigh, NC/Athens Drive High
Smith had a great day at the face-off position against Siena, winning 21-of-28. He prevented Siena winning any face-offs in the third quarter while Marist scored five goals to take a big lead. Smith also scooped up nine ground balls.
Co-Defensive Player of the Week
Noah Lode, Monmouth
So., Centreville, MD/Queen Anne’s
Noah Lode tallied 13 saves in goal for the Hawks, who held St. Bonaventure to a season-low five goals for a Monmouth opponent. Lode held the Bonnies to two goals after the first quarter in the 7-5 win.
Rookie of the Week
Will Abbott, Quinnipiac
Fr., Hopkinton, MA/Hopkinton
Abbott scored a team-high three times for the Bobcats on Saturday at Canisius. The freshman now has 14 goals during his first year at Quinnipiac.
