EDISON, NJ – The NCAA annually honors selected Division I sports teams earning multiyear Academic Progress Rates (APR) in the top 10-percent of all squads in each sport through public recognition. This announcement is part of the overall Division I academic reform effort and is intended to highlight teams that demonstrate a commitment to academic progress and retention of student-athletes by achieving the top APRs within their respective sports.

Once again, all 11 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) institutions and three associate members – La Salle University (women’s golf), University of Dayton (women’s golf), and Villanova University (water polo) – had at least one team that posted a multi-year APR in the top 10-percent of all programs in each sport. A total of 48 teams in the Conference received recognition in the latest report.

Siena College led all MAAC institutions for the third-consecutive year with nine teams, followed by Marist College and Quinnipiac University, who each had seven squads make it inside the top 10-percent. Additionally, women’s tennis had the most teams of any sport to make the list with five league programs garnering honors.

“The MAAC prides itself on excellence in both athletics and academics. The success seen annually in our multiyear academic progress rates reflect the hard work of our administrators, coaches, and most importantly, scholar-athletes,” notes MAAC Commissioner Rich Ensor. “Congratulations to all programs who were recognized for their performances and dedication in the classroom.”

The APR provides a real-time look at a team's academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete on scholarship. The APR accounts for eligibility, retention, and graduation and provides a measure of each team's academic performance.

Multiyear APRs for all Division I sports teams, including the teams receiving public recognition, will be announced May 8.
