Iona Headed to Pullman for NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Regional; Jeffrey Peters of Saint Peter’s to Play in Austin
INDIANAPOLIS, IN – The 2019 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Men’s Golf Champion, Iona College, is heading to the Pullman Regional as announced tonight on the NCAA Men’s Golf Selection Show. The Pullman Regional will be played May 13-15, at the Palouse Ridge Golf Club in Pullman, Washington. Washington State will serve as the host institution.
The Gaels took home their second straight and sixth overall MAAC Men’s Golf Championship this year, shooting an 887 (+23) over the three-round championship. Iona finished with four golfers inside the top 10 at the 2019 MAAC Men’s Golf Championship.
Iona junior Oisin Devereux finished tied for second place at the 2019 MAAC Men’s Championship, carding a 219 (+3). Devereux was joined by teammates Justin Burkhamer, Paolo Matti, and Kritsarin Oukosavanna on the MAAC Men’s Golf All-MAAC Team, after all four placed in the top 10 at the MAAC Championships. Iona head coach Sean Burke also won MAAC Men’s Golf Coach of the Year for the second year in a row.
Saint Peter’s University sophomore Jeffrey Peters will compete at the Austin Regional in Austin, Texas. Peters won the men’s individual title at the 2019 MAAC Men’s Golf Championship, winning the McLeod trophy with a score of 215 (-1). Peters was the first MAAC golfer to win the MAAC Championship by shooting par or better since Saint Peter’s head coach, Nick Dilio, shot a 212 (-4) in 2016. The Austin Regional will be hosted by the University of Texas at Austin.
