EDISON, NJ – Canisius College and Quinnipiac University are the 2019 MAAC Baseball Co-Regular Season Champions. The Golden Griffins and Bobcats share the title with 17-7 MAAC records.

Canisius (24-27, 17-7 MAAC) took two-of-three from Niagara University (15-33, 9-15) to close its regular season while Quinnipiac (26-27, 17-7) swept Manhattan College (24-31, 15-9) to wrap up its regular season and clinch a share the regular season crown. Canisius’s two wins came by scores of 14-4 and 10-4 sandwiched around an extra-inning loss against Niagara. Quinnipiac won 6-0, 7-5, and 18-3 in its sweep of Manhattan.

It is the fifth time in program history, and first time since 2014 that Canisius is at least co-regular season champions. It is the first regular season title—shared or outright—for Quinnipiac as a member of the MAAC.

Canisius seeks a second consecutive MAAC Championship and a third in the last five seasons next week on Staten Island. Quinnipiac has not claimed a MAAC Championship in baseball since joining the league before the 2014 campaign.
