2019 MAAC Men’s Lacrosse Championship Semifinals
Tenney Stadium at Leonidoff Field | Poughkeepsie, NY
 
Second-seeded Quinnipiac (9-6) established a new MAAC postseason single-game with 19 goals in a 19-10 win over third seed Detroit Mercy (8-7). Quinnipiac will play Marist on Saturday at 10 a.m. on ESPNU for the MAAC Championship.
 
Quinnipiac Notes
• Quinnipiac advances to the championship game for the first time since 2016, which was the Bobcats’ last MAAC Championship.
• The previous record for goals in a MAAC postseason game was 18 by Siena College against Jacksonville in the semifinals of 2011. Siena won that game 18-8.
• The Bobcats led 8-0 after the first quarter and scored the first nine goals of the game. The eight goals tied Quinnipiac’s season high for goals in a quarter.
• Mike Fletcher scored three times in the first quarter, five in the first half, and finished the game with seven goals and two assists for nine points.
• Jake Tomsik scored the first two goals for Quinnipiac. The sophomore finished with five and added an assist.
• Foster Cuomo and Tyler MacKay tallied hat tricks.
• Goalkeeper, Nick DiMuccio stopped nine shots to earn his ninth win of the season.
 
Detroit Mercy Notes
• Brent Lubin netted his third goal of the season to open the scoring the Titans.
• Seth Mendell scored four times—two in each half—with his fourth coming at 9:31 of the fourth to bring Detroit Mercy to within 15-10.
• Paul Manuszak added a pair of goals for Detroit Mercy.
• Alex Jarzembowski went 21-of-31 on faceoffs.
• Michael Turnbull made seven stops after coming in for Logan Shamblin after the first quarter.

Top-seeded Marist (9-6) held fourth-seeded Canisius (8-8) scoreless in the third quarter and then held on in the final minutes to advance to the MAAC Men’s Lacrosse Championship Game on Saturday at 10 a.m. on ESPNU.
 
Marist Notes
• Marist advances to its fifth championship game in the last six years. The Red Foxes won the MAAC Championship in 2015.
• Joe Tierney tallied four goals, including the one that put the Red Foxes up for good at 5:26 of the third quarter.
• Jamison Embury contributed five points for the Red Foxes with three goals and two assists.  
• Embury scored at 9:28 of the second quarter to cap a 4-0 run by the Red Foxes to take a 4-3 lead.
• Jake MacGregor made seven saves in goal for Marist.
• James Lyons had three assists and a goal. Lyons provided the goal that made it 11-9 Marist with 12:28 to play in the game.
• Jojo Pirreca added two goals and an assist for the Red Foxes.
 
Canisius Notes
• The Golden Griffins scored the first three goals of game from three different goal scorers.
• Canisius had another three-goal run in the second quarter to take a 6-4 lead. Mario Caito capped the run with his 33rd of the season.
• Jacob Buck and Jake Lemon scored 1:07 apart in the second quarter to make 8-6 Canisius. Canisius would not score after Lemon’s goal with 1:07 left in the second until 14:02 of the fourth.
• Brad Nordstrom stopped 12 shots in goal for the Golden Griffins.
• Layne Collins had three assists and a goal to pace the Canisius attack with four points.
• Buck finished with a hat trick on five shots.
