Player of the Week
Andre Marrero, Quinnipiac
Jr., West Springfield, MA/West Springfield
Marrero had an incredible weekend for the Bobcats in the sweep of Manhattan to clinch a share of the MAAC Regular Season Title. The junior led the team with a .615 BA and 1.615 SLG while collecting eight hits, seven of which went for extra-bases with four doubles and three home runs. Marrero drove in eight RBIs and scored eight runs, also stealing two bases. The West Springfield native now has career-highs with 68 hits, 10 home runs, 44 RBIs and 47 runs. Marrero now has the sixth most hits in a season in program history, third most runs in DI program history, and ninth most RBIs.
Pitcher of the Week
Tyler Poulin, Quinnipiac
Sr., Randolph, NJ/Randolph
Poulin led the Bobcats to a shutout victory in the first game of the weekend series on Thursday. The senior pitched seven innings where he scattered six hits with two walks and seven strikeouts. Following the weekend, the Randolph, New Jersey native now has a career-best 3.72 ERA. Poulin’s 73 strikeouts this season are the fourth-most in a season in DI program history and his 159 career strikeouts are eighth all-time in program history.
Rookie of the Week
Rob Hensey, Monmouth
Fr., Campbell Hall, NY
Hensey shut down Rider across seven innings for Monmouth in a critical late season game, allowing just two hits in seven scoreless innings with one walk and four strikeouts. The performance helped the Hawks secure a birth in the 2019 MAAC Baseball Championship.
