Marist Receives Seeding for 2019 NCAA Rowing Championship
INDIANAPOLIS, IN – The 2019 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Women’s Rowing Champion, Marist College will compete at the NCAA Championships as the 22
nd seed in the I Eight, II Eight, and I Four. Seeds were announced on Tuesday’s NCAA Selection Show.
Marist earned the MAAC’s automatic qualifying bid after winning the MAAC title last weekend, the program’s first since 2013. The Red Foxes defeated Jacksonville University at the MAAC Championship, winning gold in the II Eight (7:08.267) and I Eight (6:47.529), and taking home silver in the I Four (8:01.261). Marist ended the championship with 53 points.
Marist head coach Tom Sanford was named the 2019 MAAC Coach of the Year. This is the second time since 2013 that Sanford has led the Marist women to the NCAA Rowing Championships.
The NCAA DI Rowing Championships will run alongside the DII and DIII rowing championships from May 31-June 2 at the Indianapolis Rowing Center at Eagle Creek Park, Indianapolis. Indiana University, Bloomington, and Indiana Sports Corp. will serve as hosts.
