Five MAAC Softball Players Collect All-ECAC Honors

EDISON, NJ – Five softball players from the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) have been named 2019 Division I All-Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) selections. Madysen Cossack of Siena College was named to the All-ECAC First Team, while Calista Phippen of Marist College and Lindsey Baron, Erika Coreth, and Alyssa Irons of Monmouth University were named to the All-ECAC Second Team. 
 
Cossack collects All-ECAC First Team honors after being named the 2019 MAAC Player of the Year. The senior led the league with a .445 batting average and .759 slugging percentage. The Agoura Hills, California, native led the Saints to the No. 3 seed in the 2019 MAAC Softball Championship, advancing in the winner’s bracket for the first time in program history.
 
Phippen represents Marist on the All-ECAC Second Team after being named the 2019 MAAC Co-Rookie of the Year. The Freshman finished the season with a 1.48 ERA, the third lowest in the league, and kept opposing hitters to a .194 batting average. Phippen struck out 190 batters, 51 of which went down looking. A native a Kinderhook, New York, Phippen played a key role in the Red Foxes reaching the MAAC Championship Game.
 
Baron, Coreth, and Irons represent the Monmouth Hawks on the All-ECAC Second Team after winning the program’s second-straight MAAC Championship. Baron was named the 2019 MAAC Co-Rookie of the Year after leading the league in runs scored (51), doubles (21), home runs (12), and total bases (121). Irons was named the 2019 MAAC Pitcher of the Year, finishing the year tied for the lowest ERA in the league at 1.47, holding opponents to a .182 batting average while striking out 225. Irons was the only MAAC pitcher to eclipse 20 wins, collecting an even 30 on the year. Coreth was named to the All-MAAC First Team in the catcher’s position, batting .252 with 13 runs and 14 RBI on 31 hits.
