Quinnipiac Headed to East Carolina Regional for 2019 NCAA Baseball Championship
INDIANAPOLIS, IN – The 2019 MAAC Baseball Champions, Quinnipiac University, will head to Greenville, North Carolina, for the regional hosted by East Carolina University in the 2019 NCAA Baseball Championship. The Bobcats open with the Pirates on May 31 at 6 p.m. on ESPN3.
Campbell University and North Carolina State University are the other two teams headed to Greenville for regional play. East Carolina (43-15) is the top seed, NC State (42-17) is the No. 2 seed, Campbell (35-19) is the No. 3 seed, and Quinnipiac (29-27) is the No. 4 seed.
The Bobcats will be making their first appearance in the NCAA Championship as representatives of the MAAC. Quinnipiac's last and only other trip to the NCAA Championship was in 2005 as a member of the Northeast Conference.
In the MAAC Championship on Sunday, Quinnipiac walked-off with a 6-5 win over Fairfield University in 13 innings. It was Quinnipiac's first MAAC title in baseball in their first appearance in the championship series and came in the longest title game in MAAC history.
Center fielder Brian Moskey was named MVP of the MAAC Championship after hitting .583 with two home runs and nine RBI over the Bobcats' three games. Moskey led off the bottom of the first on Sunday with a homer on the first pitch he saw. Colin Donnelly, Dylan Lutz, Tyler Poulin, and Liam Scafariello joined Moskey on the All-Championship Team from Quinnipiac.
This season, Quinnipiac led the MAAC in runs scored (364), doubles (120), home runs (45), RBI (314), total bases (817), slugging percentage (.426), and stolen bases (106).
