Fairfield Falls to Pepperdine in First Round of NCAA Women’s Tennis Championship
Malibu, CA – Fairfield University (14-8, 5-1 MAAC) fell to Pepperdine University (22-3, 9-0 WCC) 4-0 in the opening round of the 2019 NCAA Women’s Tennis Championship. The Stags were coming off of the team’s first MAAC Championship since 2012.
The Waves started off the match by grabbing the doubles point. Dzina Milovanovic and Adrijana Lekaj defeated Fairfield’s Diana Prinos and Emily Lombardi 6-0 from the No. 2 spot. The doubles point was then secured by the Waves’ Jessica Failla and Anastasia Iamachkine, defeating the Stags’ Amanda Nowak and Aina March 6-1 from the No. 1 spot.
On the singles side, The Waves grabbed the team’s second point with a 6-1, 6-1 win from Dzina Milovanic in the No. 3 spot over Fairfield’s Aina March. The third point came from the No. 2 spot, where Diana Prinos fell to Pepperdine’s Jessica Failla 6-0, 6-2. The match was clinched by Pepperdine’s Satsuki Takamura with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Jessica Pil of Fairfield from the No. 6 spot.
