2019 MAAC Men’s Lacrosse Championship Game

Number one seed Marist (10-6) scored three straight goals to break an 11-11 third-quarter tie to create separation from number two seed Quinnipiac (9-7) and win the 2019 MAAC Men’s Lacrosse Championship.
Marist Notes
• The Red Foxes claim their first MAAC Championship since 2015 and third overall.
• Both of Marist’s wins came by a goal and the Red Foxes trailed by three goals in both games this weekend.
• Marist earns the MAAC’s automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament. The Red Foxes will find out their postseason opponent and site on Sunday, May 5 at 9 p.m. during the NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Selection Show on ESPNU.
• Joe Tierney, who was named MVP, scored three times and finished the championship with seven goals.
• Jamison Embury tallied a team-high six points on four goals and two assists Saturday. The All-Championship Team member posted seven goals and four assists for 11 points during the championship.
• Jake MacGregor stopped 12 shots in goal to earn his 10th win.
• Jake Weinman had a hat trick for the Red Foxes and added an assist. Weinman scored at 12:24 of the fourth quarter to cap Marist’s three-goal run.
• Jojo Pirreca put home the game-winner for Marist at 2:34 of the fourth quarter.
Quinnipiac Notes
• Foster Cuomo paced the Bobcat attack with four goals and two assists. Coumo, who made the All-Championship Team, tallied 13 points in Quinnipiac’s two games this weekend.
• Mike Fletcher scored twice and had an assist to finish the championship with 12 points. Fletcher was also named to the All-Championship Team.
• The Bobcats scored four of the first five goals of the game and led 6-4 after the first quarter.
• Seven different Bobcats registered at least a point.
