Trio from MAAC Baseball Named Google Cloud Academic All-District
EDISON, NJ - Three MAAC baseball student-athletes were named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District Baseball Team, as selected by CoSIDA. Matt Padre and Dominic Palma of Manhattan College and Matthew Brash of Niagara University were named to the District I First Team.
The Google Cloud Academic All-District Team recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
A sophomore catcher for the Jaspers, Padre, owns a 3.87 GPA as an accounting major. The Flemington, New Jersey native is hitting .242 over 48 games this season with three home runs and 25 RBI. Palma has a 3.62 GPA as an exercise science major. The junior designated hitter is hitting .228 this season for the Jaspers with 14 runs scored and a pair of homers.
Brash has a 3.67 GPA in sport management. The junior is a two-time MAAC Pitcher of the Week this season and owns a 2.50 ERA, which leads the MAAC. Brash also leads the MAAC in strikeouts with 105.
First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team (when selected) Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in June.
