Monmouth’s Steff Competes at 2019 NCAA Track & Field National Championships

AUSTIN, TX – Sophomore Danielle Steff from Monmouth University participated in her first NCAA Track and Field National Championships Friday.

Steff qualified for the national championships after finishing 10th in the Javelin at the NCAA East Regional on May 23, recording a distance of 50.05 meters. The sophomore competed in the first heat on Friday, finishing 11th in her heat and 23rd overall with a throw of 38.41 meters.
 
Steff won the Javelin at the 2019 MAAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships with a toss of 49.10 meters. With Steff competing at the national championships with teammate Allie Wilson, it marks the first time in Monmouth’s program history that two women have qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships.
 
Up next, Wilson will race in the 800M final on Saturday at 7:44 p.m. Wilson qualified for the finals after finishing second in the first heat of Thursday's preliminaries with a time of 2:03.12.
