Manhattan’s Mirance and Marist’s Vidale Appointed to NCAA Committees
EDISON, N.J. – Kathryn Mirance of Manhattan College and
Chris Vidale of Marist College have been appointed to NCAA Committees starting Sept. 1, 2019.
Mirance, Manhattan’s Associate Athletic Director, Business Affairs/Senior Woman Administrator, will serve on the NCAA Women’s Lacrosse Committee, while Vidale, Marist’s head water polo coach, will serve on the NCAA Women’s Water Polo Committee.
The NCAA governance structure consists of legislative bodies – made up of volunteers from member schools – that manage topics affecting sports rules, championships, health and safety and matters impacting women in athletics and opportunities for minorities.
“The MAAC membership has been active in NCAA committee service since the league was formed,” said MAAC Commissioner Rich Ensor. “We are eager to have two new representatives in place to continue to advance the mission, traditions, values and reputation of the NCAA, while impacting a wide range of aspects of the student-athlete experience.”
Mirance is in her fourth year at Manhattan and currently serves as the sport administrator for women’s basketball, women’s lacrosse, women’s soccer and volleyball. She came to Manhattan by way of George Washington University, where she worked as the Assistant Athletic Business Manager. The former women’s lacrosse student-athlete got her start at American University, working in a multitude of roles over her four-year tenure.
“I am honored to be selected for this role on the NCAA Division I Women’s Lacrosse Committee,” said Mirance, a four-year lacrosse letterwinner at American. “I’m not only grateful to represent Manhattan and the MAAC in this capacity, but I’m looking forward to being involved in the growth and development of a sport that I have a great passion for.”
Vidale has served as the head coach of the Marist water polo team since August 2016. Under his leadership, Marist water polo has earned a 62-47 record and three straight appearances in the MAAC Championships. Vidale, a 2007 graduate of Iona College, played for the Gaels men’s water polo team for four years. After graduation, he went on to play for the Trinidad and Tobago national team from 2008-12, while returning to his alma mater as an assistant coach from 2009-16.
“It’s an honor and a privilege to be a part of the NCAA water polo committee. Our sport is growing and evolving each season, and I’m excited to help in its development,” said Vidale.
The committee appointments run through August 31, 2023.
