EDISON, N.J. – Niagara University Director of Athletics
Simon Gray has been appointed to the NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Committee, beginning a four-year term on September 1.
"I am honored to serve on the NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Committee," Gray said. "The sport has a strong legacy and I am excited to help shape its future along with several colleagues from around the nation."
The NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Committee is responsible for the organization and implementation of the national championship tournament, including the determination of the participants and creation of the bracket. The committee also establishes playing rules and procedures for competition.
Gray, who began a three-year term on the Division I-AAA Athletics Directors Association (ADA) Executive Committee in July 2018, will represent the east region in the eight-person committee.
Gray, who has been at the helm of the Niagara University Athletics Department since 2014, has focused on a collaborative approach to highlight critical interdependencies across campus. He has placed an emphasis on the student-athlete experience, including building a strong Student-Athlete Affairs program that has put Niagara University at the forefront of addressing and implementing initiatives for the improvement of student-athlete welfare, such as introducing a mental health counselor for the department of athletics. Gray has increased engagement with the community through service, events and communication.
