Monmouth Women's Lacrosse Adds 12 to Incoming Class

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J.- Monmouth University Head Women's Lacrosse Coach Jordan Trautman has announced the addition of 12 freshmen to her team.
 
Morgan Bartlett (Ocean, NJ/Ocean Township), Caitlin Colbert (Glenwood Landing, NY/North Shore), Brianna Falco (Sparta, NJ/Sparta), Shannon Feeley (Parkton, MD/Hereford), Kennedy Fruit (Allen, TX/Allen), Cassie James (Tinton Falls, NJ/Rumson Fair Haven), Marissa Lagera (Ellicott City, MD/Centennial), Shay Morrell (Frederick, MD/Urbana), Layla Morris (Centerport, NY/Harborfields), Madelyn Murphy (Watchung, NJ/Watchung Hills Regional), Ashley Nutt (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) and Gabriella Vangeli (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) will arrive on campus in a few short weeks.
 
Bartlett played in the midfield for Ocean Township where she amassed 332 points including 223 goals. The two-time All-Shore Conference player also won 252 face offs and collected 330 ground balls for the Spartans. She played for T-3 Shore Elite on the club level and was a participant in the Shore Conference All-Star game.
 
Colbert was a two-time captain at North Shore High School under Coach Meghan McCormack, earning all-county and all-conference honors as a junior and a senior. She was a recipient of the prestigious Jackie Pitts Award, selected by US Lacrosse.
 
Falco amassed 246 points in her career in the midfield at Sparta High School where she led the Spartans to two sectional state championships and a Tournament of Champions appearance. The BBL club team member also was a First Team All-Group as a junior and named NJ Herald Player of the Year as a senior.
 
Feeley, a defender, helped lead Hereford to a 17-1 record in 2019 and back to back Baltimore County Championships, regional titles and a pair of state final appearances. She plays her club lacrosse for Mike Farrell and Megan Hanson as a part of TLC.
 
Fruit comes all the way to West Long Branch from Allen Texas where she started all four seasons in net for Allen High School. She was a two-year selection to the Under Armour Team Southwest and played her club lacrosse with GRIT.
 
Local product James was a two-time First Team All-Shore Conference and all-division selection at midfield helping lead the Rumson Fair Haven team to a perfect 120-0 league record. Twice she helped RFH to Group 2 State Titles while recording 143 goals and 25 assists while winning 56 draw controls. She is a member of T3 Shore Elite squad for club lacrosse.
 
Lagera ended her career at Centennial High School in the midfield with over 140 goals while earning first team all-county as both a junior and a senior. She was named to the Baltimore Metro Watchlist in 2019 and played her club ball with Hero's Tournament Lacrosse Club.  
 
On attack Morrell helped Urbana to four straight regional finals while playing on the club level for Renegades Lacrosse.
 
Morris missed her senior season at Harborfields with an injury but earned all-league honors as a junior. She played club lacrosse at attack for Team Elevate.
 
Murphy who played attack and midfield for Watchung Hills Regional, had 183 goals including 66 as a senior. She finished with 229 points and earned first team all-conference honors as a senior. She played her club lacrosse for Building Blocks Lacrosse.
 
Nutt hails from one of the best programs in New Jersey in Moorestown High School, where she played attack for the Quakers. She earned First Team All-Group 3 honors as a senior and was Third Team All-State and Second Team All-South Jersey while compiling 155 points and 50 ground balls.
 
Vangeli, a midfielder, scored 120 goals and assisted on 84 others in her career as a midfielder and defender. She recorded 99 ground balls and earned Skyland Conference Second Team honors as a senior. Her sister, Kristina, starred for the Blue & White from 2013-2016 and owns the school's career draw control record. Vangeli played lacrosse for T3 North Elite.
 
The Hawks went 12-6 last season, securing the second seed in the MAAC Tournament. Rising seniors Nicole Ceraso and Rachel Mills earned conference major awards as the Hawks boasted the league's best offense.
