Alexis Wayne Named Associate Commissioner for Women’s Basketball and Olympic Sports
EDISON, N.J. (Aug. 22, 2019) – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) announced the promotion of Alexis Wayne to Associate Commissioner for Women’s Basketball and Olympic Sports. Wayne previously served as the Director of Women’s Basketball Operations since 2017.
“Alexis has been an integral member of the MAAC since she joined the staff as a Fellow in 2015. She is well respected by the coaches she works with and by her peers in the industry,” said MAAC Commissioner Rich Ensor. “The promotion of Alexis reflects her excellent work, great attention to detail and commitment to putting on MAAC championships and events at a high level. We look forward to her continued success as we prepare to host the 2020 MAAC Basketball Championships in Atlantic City and the 2020 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball First and Second Rounds in Albany.”
In her new role, Wayne will be responsible for overseeing all Olympic sport operations, supervising championships staff and serving as the primary director of softball and its championship. Additionally, Wayne will work as the Assistant Tournament Manager for the 2020 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball First and Second Rounds in Albany, N.Y. She will continue to manage the planning and operations of women’s basketball and MAAC Honor Roll.
Prior to the MAAC, Wayne served as a Ticketing/Marketing Graduate Assistant with the Niagara University Athletic Department. The former softball student-athlete received her bachelor’s degree in Sport Management from Niagara in 2013 and her master’s degree in Sport Management from the University in 2015.
