Hanes and Tsangaris Named Pepsi Zero MAAC Student-Athletes of the Week

Men’s Golf
Canisius senior David Hanes is coming off a busy summer that saw the Elma, New York, native compete in multiple high-level amateur golf tournaments, including the 97
th annual New York State Amateur Golf Championship, where he finished tied for 21
st.
Hanes, a two-time All-MAAC performer, played in his fourth-straight Porter Cup in June and teamed with his older brother Billy to win the state's 2018 Men's Four-Ball crown. The two-time Buffalo District Golf Association Match Play champion and the defending Erie County Amateur champion, Hanes enters his senior year at Canisius having played in 18 career college events, where he has recorded 12 top-20 finishes.
In the classroom, Hanes holds a 3.39 grade point average as an economics major. He is a two-time MAAC All-Academic honoree and he has been named to the MAAC Academic Honor Roll three times.
Stephanie Tsangaris
Fairfield University
Women’s Soccer
Tsangaris scored the game-winning goal in double overtime in Fairfield's season opening victory over Colgate. With three minutes left in the contest, the sophomore spun around her defender at the top of the box and rolled in the deciding tally in a 1-0 victory. In the classroom, Tsangaris earned a spot on the MAAC Academic Honor Roll and was also selected to the Fairfield University Dean's List in 2019.
