EDISON, N.J. (Sep. 12, 2019) - The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) has announced Jay Williams and Ken Taylor will be inducted in the 2019 MAAC Honor Roll. Honorees will be enshrined in “The MAAC Experience” exhibit at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame on Saturday, Sept. 14.

Each member institution of the MAAC honors one male and one female from its basketball “family” as part of the 2019 induction class. The MAAC honors two individuals who had a progressive impact on the conference. A dinner event takes place Saturday, Sept. 14 at the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame Court of Dreams to recognize the Honor Roll inductees.

Each honoree will be profiled in the game program for the 2020 MAAC Basketball Championships and will be featured in a video display at “The MAAC Experience.”

Jay Williams 1986-97
Jay Williams has had a long career surrounding college athletics. The graduate from Lafayette College spent 17 years as a collegiate athletic administrator and an additional 21 years in business development and marketing, primarily in athletics and higher education.

Williams was the first full-time Sports Information Director for both Marist College and Fairfield University. He then went on to spend 11 years as the Associate Commissioner of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, where he ran the highly successful MAAC Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships, managed scheduling for men’s basketball, football, and baseball, and wrote the proposals to bring NCAA Championship events to Albany and Buffalo.

Aside from basketball, Williams was also in charge of MAAC Football, which he brokered a deal between the MAAC and ESPN to air a conference game for Monday Night Football.

After his time at the MAAC, Williams spent five years running business development at Phoenix Design Works, where he built a collegiate division that developed various designs to advance universities’ marketing and communication initiatives. Williams spent another five years at Eclaro Sports, consulting with smaller schools and conferences on their marketing efforts.

Williams also contributed to the advancement of video and print coverage for nearly 150 colleges while serving Collegiate Images.

Ken Taylor 1999-2015
Ken Taylor started off his career with the MAAC as an Administrative/Media Relations Fellow in 1999. The University of Michigan graduate quickly climbed the ranks within a year to become the Assistant Commissioner.

Taylor, while also obtaining his master’s degree in Sports Administration, oversaw all aspects of conference award programs, operations, scheduling, and public relations. He also planned and executed the 2003 NCAA Men’s Frozen Four.

In 2006, Taylor was appointed the Associate Commissioner of the MAAC. In this role, Taylor further developed the MAAC’s relationship with ESPN by overseeing the development of media coverage for the MAAC, while also being involved with NCAA Championships.

Taylor is grateful not only for his experience with the MAAC, but for the opportunity of meeting his wife, Sandra. Taylor joined Monmouth University in 2015, where he currently works as the Associate Athletics Director/Development. In his role, Taylor is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Blue/White Club and the oversight of Marketing, Ticketing and Promotions.
