Siena’s Monroe and Schwarz, Saint Peter’s Laws Named MAAC Men’s Soccer Players of the Week
Offensive Player of the Week
Dominic Laws, Saint Peter’s
Jr., Sunderland, England/ St. Aidan's Catholic Academy
Laws had a career showing in the Peacocks' 5-0 shutout win over VMI on Saturday, netting two goals and two assists in the meeting with the Keydets. Laws' six-point ledger on Saturday represents the highest single-game scoring output by any Peacock since Noah Sadaoui scored a hat trick against Seton Hall on Aug. 23, 2012. Laws now leads Saint Peter's in both goals and assists.
Defensive Player of the Week
Greg Monroe, Siena
So., Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa
Monroe posted six saves in the Saints' 3-2 win over America East power Vermont, marking their first win over the Catamounts since 2009. The performance included a save inside the final two minutes that preserved the win for the Saints.
Rookie of the Week
Samuel Schwarz, Siena
So., Traunstein, Germany/Chiemgau-Gymnasium Traunstein
Schwarz scored in each of the Saints' two non-conference wins last week, including one in the team's 3-2 win over Vermont and the first goal in Siena's 3-0 shutout of Sacred Heart. The goals came off three total shots, allowing Schwarz to post a .667 shooting percentage last week.
Schwarz is a sophomore by class but a freshman by eligibility.
