NEW ROCHELLE, NY – Lauren Kahn was named the third head coach in Iona College women's lacrosse history, it was announced today by Director of Athletics Matthew Glovaski. Kahn joins the Gaels following five seasons at Columbia University.

"We are delighted to have Lauren join Gael Nation." Glovaski said. "Lauren comes equipped with a strong body of work experience and success from her time at Columbia and we are thrilled to have her take over at the helm of our women's lacrosse program."

"It is with great enthusiasm and excitement that I take on the position of women's lacrosse head coach at Iona College," said Kahn. "I'd like to thank Matthew Glovaski, Sam DeRosa and the entire search committee for this amazing opportunity."

"I look forward to becoming a huge part of the Iona community and I am excited to start working with this outstanding and dedicated group of young women," she added. "Lacrosse has been my passion for many years. Helping student-athletes achieve both academic and athletic success is something that I strongly believe in. I look forward to bringing these values to our program."

Kahn comes to New Rochelle after five strong seasons with the Lions where she was instrumental to the program's constant development. In 2018, Columbia made the Ivy League Championship for the first time in program history. Kahn's defensive and draw-control emphasis were exceptionally helpful in the season's success. Her instruction helped junior Lindsey Ewertson to the single-season program record with 78 draw controls and single-game record of 15.

Kahn served as the Lions' recruiting coordinator and was responsible for communications with prospective student-athletes and their coaches. Kahn's duties involved the planning of recruiting visits, organization of on-campus events and scheduling of various prospect evaluation activities.

Kahn's club coaching experience included time with the Hudson Valley Hurricanes while she was a student-athlete. She assisted in various aspects of local tournaments while also planning clinics for local kids.

A graduate of the University of Connecticut in 2014, Kahn was a two-time Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-America and All-Big East First Team honoree. She was voted the Big East Midfielder of the Year in 2012. Kahn carried UConn's offense in 2012 and 2013, leading the Huskies in points in back-to-back seasons.

She was named to the 2014 Tewaaraton Award preseason watch list. The award is given annually to the most outstanding American college lacrosse men's and women's lacrosse players. The Nanuet, New York native finished her collegiate career at UConn ranked No. 2 all-time in points (216), No. 3 in assists (73) and No. 4 in goals (143).

Kahn is a member of the Women's Professional Lacrosse League and played the 2019 campaign with the Philadelphia Fire. Prior to the Fire, she played two seasons with the Boston Storm in the United Women's Lacrosse League. Kahn also competed with the New York Athletic Club.

A 2014 graduate of Connecticut, Kahn holds a bachelor's degree in Communications with a minor in English.
