Iona’s Baird and Manhattan’s Nici Named Pepsi Zero MAAC Student-Athletes of the Week

Baird was Iona's top finisher at the 6K Marist Season Opener on Aug. 31. The junior finished in fourth place in the event with a time of 19:19.2, helping the Gaels to a second-place finish in the season-opening meet.
The Gaels were selected as the unanimous preseason favorites in the league for the 29th consecutive season and were also selected 19th overall in the USTFCCCA National Preseason Coaches' Poll.

Women’s Soccer
Nici averaged 11.5 saves per game last week against Fordham and Binghamton. She began her big week with 10 saves in a narrow loss to the Rams in the Battle of the Bronx. The senior followed up that performance with a career-high 13 stops in a loss against the Bearcats. On the year, Nici is averaging 9.3 saves per game.
