Erika Seagren Joins Canisius Athletic Department Staff 1/10/2020 11:00:00 AM Erika Seagren has been named Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance at Canisius, Director of Athletics Bill Maher announced on Friday. Seagren joins the Golden Griffin athletic department after serving as the assistant director of compliance at the University of Rhode Island. She replaces Bill Morris, who took the associate director of athletics position at D'Youville in November. At Rhode Island, Seagren worked the with University's 18 Division I sports programs where she managed day-to-day operations of compliance, such as recruiting activity, complimentary tickets, playing and practice seasons, amateurism, transfers and camps and clinics. Prior to her time at URI, the Hyde Park, N.Y., native spent two years as the director of compliance at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. Among her many responsibilities at the MAAC were the handling of all inquiries and interactions between the MAAC membership and the NCAA's national office, serving as the conference resource officer for the NCAA Institutional Performance Program, overseeing the National Letter of Intent (NLI) program and enforcing the MAAC Constitution, Bylaws, and Administrative agreements. Seagren also served as the co-SAAC advisor for the MAAC Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and oversaw the MAAC Choices program, which is funded through the NCAA Choices grant. Seagren returned to the conference after spending just over a year at Wagner College, where she served as a media relations and marketing assistant. There, she was the media contact for men's and women's water polo in addition to her marketing duties. During the 2015-16 academic year, Seagren worked at the MAAC as an administrative fellow, assisting with the conference's marketing efforts throughout basketball season. She also served as the promotions coordinator at the MAAC men's and women's basketball championships and at the AdvoCare Invitational, the annual basketball tournament at Disney's ESPN Wide World of Sports. A 2015 graduate of Siena College, Seagren was a Dean's List student and MAAC All-Academic performer as a four-year member of the Saints' swimming & diving program. A team co-captain and SAAC representative, she earned her bachelor's degree in business management. She went on to earn her master's degree in business administration, with a concentration in marketing, from Wagner in May of 2018.
