Marist’s Gilmer and Siena’s Hauer Named MAAC Pepsi Zero Women’s Basketball Weekly Award Winners

Alana Gilmer, Marist

Gilmer shot an impressive 76 percent from the field to lead Marist to a 2-0 week. The redshirt senior dropped a team-best 24 points on 10-16 shooting and grabbed seven boards in a 90-59 win at Canisius on Jan. 9. She followed that up with 18 points on a perfect 9-9 performance from the field in just 15 minutes in a 94-67 victory over Niagara on Jan. 11. The latter effort set a Marist record for best in-game field goal percentage with a minimum of eight makes, surpassing Rachele Fitz's previous record of .917. On the year, Gilmer is averaging a career-high 17.3 points per game, which is third in the MAAC, and leads the conference with a 55.0 field goal percentage.
Rookie of the Week
Julia Hauer, Siena
Fr., Binghamton, NY/Seton Catholic
Hauer was a go-to option for the Saints this past week, averaging 12.0 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game. She topped out with a 17-point, five rebound game at Saint Peter's. After two double-digit scoring performances, she fell short with 9 points at Canisius on Saturday, but dished out five assists in the process in a Siena win over the Golden Griffins.
