Drame, Johnson Named Pepsi Zero MAAC Men’s Basketball Players of the Week

Player of the Week
Malik Johnson, Canisius
Sr., Richmond, VA/Blue Ridge School
Canisius senior Malik Johnson averaged 21 points, 8.5 assists, 5.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game last week as the Golden Griffins went 2-0 with home wins over Siena and Rider. In the win over Siena on Jan. 17, the Richmond, Virginia, native scored a game-high 24 points, his fourth game with 20 or more points this season, while also grabbing seven boards and dishing out six assists. In the team's win over Rider on Sunday, he posted his second double-double of the season with a team-high 18 points to go with 11 assists.
 
Rookie of the Week
Hassan Drame, Saint Peter’s
Fr., Bamako, Mali/Our Savior New American School (NY)
Freshman forward Hassan Drame scored a career-high 17 points and added 14 rebounds to lead Saint Peter’s to a 71-51 victory over Quinnipiac on Saturday. Drame’s efforts gave him his second career double-double. Along with his career night in scoring, he also handed out a career and game-high five assists in the win. On the week, Drame led the Peacocks in scoring, rebounds and assists, averaging 11.0 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game.
