CINCINNATI, OH - Former Monmouth Men's Soccer goalkeeper Bobby Edwards has signed with FC Cincinnati of Major League Soccer (MLS). Edwards most recently played for Portadown FC in Northern Ireland's NIFL Championship.

"We are very happy for Bobby," said Monmouth head coach Robert McCourt. "He has a tremendous work ethic. It is wonderful to see him achieve his dreams. Alex Blackburn did a fantastic job as our goalkeepers coach mentoring Bobby during his time at Monmouth. We wish Bobby well in this next step in his career."

Edwards played with the Hawks during the 2017 season, starting 16 games and accumulating 68 saves. The Parsippany native totaled three shutouts on the year.

"I'm thrilled to have signed an MLS contract with FC Cincinnati," said Edwards. "Thank you to all those who have helped me along this journey, I've been extremely blessed to be surrounded by such amazing people each step of the way. Thank you to the staff at Monmouth University for helping me grow as both a player and a person. I'm incredibly grateful for all that they've done for me on and off the pitch. I'm lucky to have made such amazing connections and friendships during my time in West Long Branch that have shaped me into who I am today."

Edwards joins a long list of Monmouth goalkeepers currently in the professional ranks, including Bryan Meredith (Inter Miami CF of the MLS), Eric Klenofsky (Toronto FC II of USL League One), and Alex Blackburn (Goalkeepers Coach for Greenville Triumph of USL League One).
