MAAC Announces Swimming & Diving Weekly Awards
Men’s Swimmer of the Week
Justin Carey, Rider
Sr., Landenberg, PA/Avon Grove
Senior Justin Carey was dominant once again in the pool for the Broncs in a dual meet victory over Bryant. Carey won the 100 back (49.87), 100 free (46.68) and 100 fly (50.93). He currently has the top time in the MAAC in all three events. It marked the sixth meet this season in which has won at least three individual events.
Men’s Diver of the Week
Dillon Walles, Rider
Jr., The Woodlands, TX/ The Woodlands High School
Junior diver Dillon Walles had another big meet on the boards for the Broncs at Bryant last weekend. Walles won both the 1M and the 3M. He finished first overall in the 1M with a score of 277.27 and he was the top-scorer in the 3M with a mark of 314.65. He has swept the diving events in six straight meets.
Women’s Swimmer of the Week
Maria Nitti, Fairfield
Jr., Robbinsville, NJ/ Notre Dame (NJ)
Against Iona, Nitti won the 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 24.48. Nitti also won the 100 Yard
Freestyle with a final time of 53.79.
Women’s Diver of the Week
Meg Tomayko, Rider
Sr., Murfreesboro, TN/ Siegel
Senior diver Meg Tomayko picked up the second semester action where she left off for the Broncs in a dual meet against Bryant. Tomayko won both the 1M and 3M diving events. She finished first overall in the 1M with a score of 246.30 and she was also first in the 3M with a mark of 251.63. It was her fourth victory in the 1M this season.
