Albany, N.Y. (Jan. 27, 2020) – Rider University (11-8, 5-4 MAAC) heads to Albany, New York to face Siena College (9-9, 5-4 MAAC) on Feb. 14 at 9:00 p.m. The Friday night matchup is set to air on ESPNU as part of the MAAC Wildcard Game package.

Rider and Siena currently sit tied for third in the conference standings. The Broncs handed the Saints their first loss in league play when the two teams met on Jan. 5 in Lawrenceville.

Siena boasts a perfect 9-0 record at home this season. The Saints will travel to Iona College and Saint Peter’s University before attempting to defend their home winning streak through a four-game slate starting Feb. 7 versus Fairfield University. MAAC Preseason Player of the Year Jalen Pickett is averaging team-highs in scoring (16.0), assists (4.8), blocks (1.1) and steals (1.4). The sophomore ranks in the top 10 in the league in all four of those categories.

The Broncs enter the week fresh off of a two-game winning streak, with victories this weekend against Saint Peter’s and Manhattan. Rider has four scorers averaging double-digits in Dimencio Vaughn (13.6), Frederick Scott (13.4), Tyere Marshall (13.2) and Stevie Jordan (11.8). The Broncs are averaging a league-high 72.9 points per game as a squad, narrowly ahead of second-place Siena (72.7).

The wildcard format allows ESPN to pick any game scheduled for that specific date to air on ESPNU and allows the MAAC and ESPN the flexibility to showcase the best matchups as the season progresses. Two more contests (Feb. 21 and Feb. 28) will be flexed onto ESPNU. Those matchups will be announced at a later date.

The regular season culminates with the 2020 MAAC Basketball Championships in the event’s inaugural year at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey from March 10-14.  The Garden State will be home to the MAAC Basketball Championships for the first time since 2003.
