Rider’s Bauer, Long, and Gladden, Iona’s Morenaite Earn Geico MAAC Indoor Track & Field Weekly Awards
Men’s Track Performer of the Week
Tom Long, Rider
Sr., Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson
Senior Tom Long had a strong weekend for the Broncs at the John Thomas Terrier Classic last week. In the two-day event, Long posted a pair of IC4A-qualifying marks for Rider. He anchored the DMR with a 4:05, 1600-meter leg that led to smashing the Rider record and also helped rank the team with the thrid best DMR time in the IC4A this season with a mark of 9:51.98. The DMR time is ranked number one in the MAAC and it’s the fastest time by 50 seconds. Long also ran 4:13.68 in the one-mile run.
Women’s Track Performer of the Week
Egle Morenaite, Iona
Jr., Klaipeda, Lithuania/Priekules Ievos Simonaitytes Gymnasium
In the 3,000-meter event, Egle Morenaite continued her strong running with a second-place finish of 9:19.71. Her time was a career-best, the fastest in the MAAC this season, and the seventh fastest 3K time in the NCAA this season. She ran at the Dr. Sander Columbia Challenge at the Armory.
Men’s Field Performer of the Week
Justin Gladden, Rider
So., Brielle, NJ/Manasquan
Sophomore Justin Gladden had a great showing last week for the Broncs at the Collegeville Classic. At the one-day event hosted by Ursinus College, Gladden won the triple jump with a mark of 14.40m. He currently leads the MAAC in the event this season.
Women’s Field Performer of the Week
Lindsay Bauer, Rider
Sr., Allentown, PA/Salisbury
Senior Lindsay Bauer had a strong performance for the Broncs during the Collegeville Classic held by Ursinus College, she won the long jump with a leap of 5.55m. The mark is currently third in the MAAC in the event.
