Marist Picked as 2020 MAAC Women’s Rowing Favorites

Edison, N.J. (Jan 30, 2020) – Marist College has been picked as the 2020 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) women’s rowing preseason favorite, as voted on by the league’s head coaches.
 
Marist received all ten first place votes after winning the 2019 MAAC Championship and not finishing worse than second in the last three MAAC Championships.
 
Jacksonville University followed in second with 89 points. The Dolphins won the MAAC Championship in 2018 and look to get back to the top spot after finishing second last year.
 
Stetson University, Drake University and Canisius College round out the top five with 77, 72 and 49 points respectively. No team outside of Marist or Jacksonville has won the MAAC Women’s Rowing Championship since Drake did so in 2012. The sixth, seventh and eighth place spots are held by Robert Morris University, Fairfield University and Manhattan College. Sacred Heart University finished in ninth with 20 points, followed by Iona College in the tenth spot with 10 points.

For the third consecutive year the 2020 MAAC Women's Rowing Championship will be hosted at Cooper River Park in Pennsauken Township, New Jersey. All 10 institutions qualify for the championship and compete for the MAAC's automatic qualifier for the NCAA Division I Rowing Championship.
