EDISON, N.J. (Jan 8, 2020) – Mathew Gonzalez has been appointed to Interim Director of New Media/Video, the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) announced today. Gonzalez most recently served as the MAAC’s New Media Fellow this fall, serving as the primary contact for cross country, indoor and outdoor track and field, water polo, and rowing. Gonzalez replaces Kerry Flynn, who has left the MAAC to pursue other opportunities.

“We appreciate Mathew’s willingness to step up so quickly and fill the position,” said Rich Ensor, MAAC Commissioner. “Mathew’s previous experience in his role at MAAC member institution Rider University gives him a strong background in this area, as well as great familiarity around the league.”

As the Interim Director of New Media/Video, Gonzalez will be responsible for assisting the Assistant Commissioner of New Media in the marketing, promotion, video creation, and development of the MAAC brand through the leagues’ broadcasting platforms and the various forms of social media. Gonzalez will also play a role in assisting the Assistant Commissioner of New Media in executing broadcast activation strategies in conjunction with ESPN for this year’s MAAC Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Gonzalez will also assist in producing games at the 2020 Championships that will be broadcasted on ESPN+ and ESPN3.

A native from North Bergen, New Jersey, Gonzalez graduated from Rider with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration majoring in Sports Management and Marketing with a minor in Public Relations. Gonzalez was also a four-year student-athlete as a member of Rider’s cross country and track & field team.

Prior to joining the MAAC, Gonzalez served as a Multimedia Assistant for Rider Athletics’ BroncVision acting as director and technical director for ESPN3 and ESPN+ productions.
