When the pandemic started and I was sent home from school, I started as a nursing assistant at a pediatric rehabilitation hospital in Boston. This opportunity during all this craziness going on the world, has oddly felt so right. I have found a passion for pediatric nursing.

This pandemic has brought a new meaning to the Fairfield promise that Stags are built for life. With the devastating news of the soccer season being cancelled this fall, I have found comfort and excitement by embracing the next chapter of my life.

I think being able to be an advocate for someone is what draws me to the nursing profession so much. After completing mental health clinical and simulation, I have learned nurses do so much more than take vitals and administer medication. You truly care for the whole person, body, mind and spirit and I think that is what makes nurses so special.

 Lexi Lehan (full story)
Growing up I always loved kids and knew I wanted to do something that would involve working with kids and helping people. Throughout high school, I volunteered for a community based program designed to bring the opportunity of learning and playing soccer to children and adults with mental and/or physical disabilities. As I began to explore my options for college and continuing to play soccer in college, I had the opportunity to meet the nursing students on the soccer team at Fairfield. With my deep-rooted desire to help others, nursing clicked, and since then has been all I can imagine myself doing.
