Kelsey Nugent Promoted to Director of Championships
EDISON, N.J. (Oct. 26, 2020) – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) announced today that staff member Kelsey Nugent has been promoted to Director of Championships, beginning in December. Nugent will be transitioning from her role as Assistant to the Commissioner/Esports Coordinator, which she has held since June of 2020.
In her new position, Nugent will be responsible for overseeing the sport of volleyball, including the planning and coordination of conference championships. In addition, she will retain her role of Esports Coordinator where she will continue to manage competition and operations for the MAAC’s newest sport.
“We are very happy to have Kelsey join us full-time,” said MAAC Commissioner Rich Ensor. “Being a former student-athlete at Saint Peter’s, Kelsey was already familiar with the MAAC and our events when she joined us in 2019. Her work assisting tournament directors last season and her efforts this summer with the league’s esports programs have shown that she is ready to take this well-earned next step in the conference office.”
Nugent joined the MAAC in August of 2019 as an Administrative Fellow where she was responsible for assisting in MAAC championships and special events operations, including in-game promotions/operations and collecting and analyzing NCAA/conference reports. Following the completion of her fellowship in June of 2020, Nugent transitioned to her currently held part-time role of Assistant to the Commissioner/Esports Coordinator.
Before joining the MAAC, Nugent interned for the Department of Athletics at Saint Peter’s University and the Department of Athletics at Rutgers University. At these internships, she was responsible for creating marketing plans, updating rosters and statistics for different athletic teams, and being site manager for different sporting events.
Nugent is from Piscataway, New Jersey and graduated from Saint Peter’s in May of 2019, where she earned her degree in sports management with a minor in marketing. Nugent was a four-year student-athlete for the Peacocks as a center midfielder on the women’s soccer team.
